History

1985 Dr. Rainer Brodmann, at the time with Rodenstock in Munich, developed the first commercial scattered light measuring instrument.
1988 VW, Daimler und IBM successfully applied the scattered light instrument to piston bolts, gear – and crankshafts, valve and hard disk manufacturing.
1992 Rodenstock withdrew from the measuring market.
2004 OptoSurf founded in Ettlingen, near Karlsruhe in Germany, by Dr. Rainer Brodmann
2006 Market launch of the OS 500. First applications at ZF Lemförder, Stahl Judenburg, Daimler, GruppeHeat
2008 First fully automatic hip joint measuring machine
2009 VDA 2009 „Scattered light measuring technology " approved.
OptoSurf wins the Dr. Rudolf Eberle Innovation prize
