Surfaces with the most Challenging Requirements
|
Medical technology places the utmost demands on the surfaces of implants. For example, on artifical hip joints, the roughness of the ball must be less than 10 nm (Ra) and the maximum error in shape is of the order of 1 µm, while the surfaces must, of course, be defect-free. Theses requirements play to the strengths of the OS 500 sensor in measuring on highly polished, reflecting surfaces. Because of its high measurement speed large surfaces can be captured with no omissions, so that the visual inspection in normal use today can be omitted. For shape errors (roundness), the resolution is of the order of 0.2 µm. |
