Components for the Automotive Industry

In-line roughness measurement of precision machined surfaces is the main application area. Such surfaces exist on universal joint balls, toothed racks, crank shafts, gear shafts, piston bolts and balance shafts and other components. Additionally, roundness and chatter marks can be measured on bearing seats and drive components. The bearing seats of drive shafts pose the highest demands in respect of wear and noise. Chatter marks at particular frequencies lead to intolerable noise at even tiny amplitudes (< 0,1 µm). The roughness and roundness of bearing seats pose just as challenging requirements. Used with the rotation module RT1, the OS 500 measuring system allows fast and simple measurement of roundness and waviness, plus indirect information about the changes in surface roughness. The robustness of the system allows its use directly in the manufacturing environment. |
